Parents and teachers of Riverhead expressed disappointment and worries of the delayed safety crossing line in their neighbourhood.
A zebra crossing line scheduled for north-west Auckland was initially due to be completed in January, yet the project’s completion date was pushed back to August.
The community was advised that the crossing line would be completed by January yet Auckland Transport media relations manager Mark Hannan replied that the upgrades were still in design process; however, they are trying to speed up the work pace.
Resident Amberlea Rowledge raised her concern on the feasibility and practicality of the current kea crossing at Coastesville-Riverhead Highway. Amberlea clarified that the current crossing was only patrolled for a short time before and after school and that she wanted traffic lights to be installed along with the zebra crossing to ensure their children are out of danger and secure.
