TIPS FOR YOUR PRESENTATION

General

  • Please let us know, if you wish to use videos or sound during your presentation, so that we can inform the AV team in advance of the event.
  • To avoid any technical issues when using videos in power point, you may wish to consider converting the clip to a WMV file. This file extension tends to be most compatible with different versions of power point.
  • You are welcome to use handouts and/or make your talk interactive.
  • Please make sure you stick to your allotted time for your presentation. Do bear in mind that this time slot will include questions & answers from the audience if you wish to take any. Presentations that overrun may cause delays to the overall speaker programme.
  • Please keep your schedule free on the day of the presentation, in case of any last minute timing changes to the speaker programme.

Conference Presentation

  • We suggest using no more than 20 slides.
  • The session chairperson will introduce you to the stage using your biography. Please reserve 5 minutes of your speaking slot duration, for questions from the audience. Please let the chairperson/event producer know in advance if you do not wish to do answer questions from the audience. A member of staff will be on hand with a wireless microphone for audience members.
  • You will be asked to submit your presentation slides by email the week before the event. Please also bring the final version along to the event on a USB device 1 hour (minimum) prior to your speaking time. We ask that a draft is supplied to us in advance, for us to store as a back-up file for you. You will be able to make edits to the file and bring the up to date version with you on the day.
  • If your presentation is too large to send by email, please use a file sharing website such as Dropbox.

Workshop

  • Suggested session timings breakdown for a 50 minute training workshop: 35 minute presentation, 5 minute summary, 5 minutes for questions.
  • Suggested session timings breakdown for a 25 minute training workshop: 15 minute presentation, 5 minute summary, 5 minutes for questions.
