The number of women in New Zealand’s construction industry has doubled over the last 15 years. This growth has prompted the establishment and success of the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) in New Zealand.
NAWIC is non-profit association which supports women who work in the construction industry.
NAWIC New Zealand has over 500 members and was first established in Wellington in 1996, with new chapters established in Auckland in 2012 and Canterbury in 2013. We also established a satellite chapter in Taranaki in 2017. Our members include quantity surveyors, project managers, suppliers, planners, designers, architects, engineers, health and safety practitioners, students, apprentices, tradespeople, construction recruiters, and lawyers.
NAWIC encourages women to pursue, establish and sustain successful careers in the construction industry. Our vision is to be the leading voice for women in the New Zealand industry. We hold regular events to inform and up-skill women in construction and to promote networking and information sharing for the betterment of the construction industry as a whole.
