Several fires bursted forth on multiple levels of Parks Residence, an apartment building in Auckland CBD, where the cause of the accident remained unknown.

Firefighters along with appliances were called to tackle the blaze, whilst workers from nearby buildings were evacuated. Public suspected that the peculiar multiple fire outbreaks were ignited deliberately. It is reported that the apartment was still under construction but will be opening in a months time.

No deaths or injuries were reported in the incident on account of the prompt response of the sprinkler system. The police has now started investigating into the incident.

Geoff Purcell, fire service area commander claimed that one of the fire outbreaks was caused by combustibles on top of the stove. It was believed that someone had taken advantage of the fact that the sites is currently in a handover period which is not secured at normal level in which caused the outbreak of fire.
